2022 VW Tiguan Interior
The interior of the Tiguan picks up speed, aiming for interesting things that we’ll also see in other new VWs like the Golf and Arteon. Each trim gets new interior decoration options, in addition to a new steering wheel with multi-functional touch capabilities.

Like the new Arteon before it, Europe got better results from this bargain; In addition to the more pedestrian variant, the EU also has the 315-hp Tiguan R and a plug-in hybrid variant. Disappointment.
Like the current Tiguan, 2022 will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
During Car and Driver testing, the 2020 model rolled out to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds, placing it in a lower position than its competitors, the Toyota RAV4 (8.2 seconds), Mazda CX-5 (7.9 seconds), and Honda. CR-V (7.6 seconds). The stop/start system is standard, and we also observed 22 mpg during the 250-mile highway fuel-economy test.
2022 VW Tiguan R Line Black
Volkswagen cleaned up its compact Tiguan SUV well enough for 2022, sharpening the nose of the crossover and upgrading the interior a bit. The updated Tiguan looks more muscular and a bit more premium, which is fitting, now that it costs more.
The entry-level Tiguan S model saw a year-over-year increase from $26,440 to $27,190, while the 4Motion all-wheel-drive option (available on every Tiguan except for the top-tier SEL R-Line, which comes standard with it) saw its price jump from $1,300 to $1,500. This effectively raises the price of every all-wheel-drive Tiguan compared to last year.
Nevertheless, VW remains well below the average of competitors such as the Honda CR-V, which starts at $26,575; Toyota RAV4, which starts at $27,465; and the Nissan Rogue, which starts at $27,000.
If you’re wondering how compact SUVs got so expensive, blame the burgeoning subcompact SUV segment—the Tiguan, like most of its competitors, now lives on top of smaller, cheaper offerings; in this case, the new Taos for 2022.

Tiguan SE R-Line Black: True to its name, the Tiguan SE R-Line Black gets a blacked out exterior with 19-inch alloy wheels painted black, black accents on the front and rear bumpers of the more aggressive, black R-Line.

Tiguan SEL R-Line: The top-of-the-line SEL R-Line gets standard all-wheel drive, as well as most of the Black model gears—though not the dark style. 2022 VW Tiguan Release Date Given the added features and a more attractive appearance, the Volkswagen Tiguan 2022 is worth the wait. Even if that means waiting more than a year after the updated Volkswagen crossover goes on sale in other parts of the world.
