2022 VW Atlas In many ways, the anonymous 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is the reason big, boxy SUVs have earned such a bad reputation, but it’s also a solid alternative to minivans. With ample cargo area and three-row seating that accommodates adults—comfortably—on the return journey, the Atlas is better at family transportation than many other mid-sized utes.
VW is also compatible with popular driver assistance and desirable standard equipment, especially in mid-range models, which enhances its value proposition. Power comes from a standard turbo-four engine or a rugged V-6; both are offered with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. While the sizeable SUV is by no means appealing to drive, its behavior on the road is convincing. Unfortunately, its uninspired interior aesthetic and rough ride on damaged surfaces make it neither look nor feel as smooth as its rivals. However, the Atlas 2022 excels in the XL size.
Volkswagen reexamined its Atlas 2022 arrangement by dropping the base-level S model and making the SE trim another passage point. While this added to a higher beginning cost than the earlier year’s model, the Atlas SE really saw a drop in cost, and accompanied the ideal standard highlights like an advanced check group. Matched with the Technology bundle, the SE has now added a USB-C port in the third line. A 20-inch wheel bundle is additionally recently accessible.
Combined with the discretionary V-6, the SE with Tech bundle currently comes standard with a trailer hitch. Essentially, every SEL model presently has standard all-wheel drive and 20-inch wheels. All SEL Premium trim levels highlight the R-Line tasteful, which incorporates 21-inch wheels. The recently presented R-Line Black showcase pack gives the mid-sizer a more vile look.
The Atlas accompanies one of two motors—a 235-hp four-chamber or a 276-hp V-6. Both are combined to an eight-speed programmed transmission and all-wheel or front-drive. The V-6 feels and sounds smooth, not vibrating into the taxi.
While the last four-chamber and V-6 models we tried had normal speed increase, out and about they seldom felt underpowered. While not exactly as amusing to drive as the Mazda CX-9, the Atlas reacts obediently to guiding information and never feels off-kilter. It is created on the interstate and lithe in the city. The ride is smooth, and every one of the hardest openings are ingested.
2022 VW Atlas Review
VW is refreshing the Atlas 2022 with new front and rear views that increase the overall length of the SUV by nearly three inches. A more attractive three-spoke grille adorns the front end, as do the revised headlamps that now feature standard LED elements.
Models with the R-Line option are equipped with custom badges, body kits, and 20 or 21-inch rims. Inside, you’ll find a new steering wheel, updated stitching on the seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen (on SE and SEL models), and the latest iteration of VW’s Car-Net smartphone app.
The four-cylinder Atlas is now available with all-wheel drive for the first time. It’s been three years since the Volkswagen Atlas took off into the full three-line crossover SUV scene, but it’s still getting a full facelift.
VW claims this is the first example of its new policy of shortening its standard four-year renewal cadence, but this nose job isn’t purely for arrogance. It also brings increased pedestrian protection to the bumper structure which adds to the overall length by about 3 inches.
Of course, as with all the repetition, it seems that way, the new look – especially on the sporty R-Line trim shown – strives for a more aggressive mien than ever before, With black accented patch fascia vents and a fake front skidplate looking ready to push. – starting Bonneville speed record racers (it’s just prepared to push pedestrians gently).
The side cladding and rear bumper were also revised and macho to match the design of the new wheels, which are 18, 20, or 21 inches in diameter.
VW Atlas Redesign 2022
In this regard, it is hoped that the 2022 Atlas Redesign will get a number of modifications. First, the 2022 model features an aggressive grille and redesigned headlights that include standard LED components like the MY 2021.5.
Even the rear has been redesigned with new additions, the car has received different wheel sizes and more space in the cabin, which has led to an increase in the length of the car.
In terms of overall appearance, the Atlas 2022 is still slightly soft and comfortable when viewed from the outside, while the 5-seater Atlas Cross Sport is still slightly better because of its sporty character.
Update, the same will be mutually beneficial until 2022. We cannot get access to all the details about the outer dimensions of the Atlas 2022, although we are sure of one thing – the length of the Volkswagen Atlas. Add 3 inches.
The curb weight can also be slightly increased, but otherwise everything is more or less the same. In comparison, the Volkswagen Atlas has the best ground clearance in its segment. The curb weight of the vehicle is average to good, but too heavy is bad.
In this aspect of safety, there is no lag compared to the proposals of the German manufacturer, and in the same way, to ensure good driver safety, Atlas offers an excellent safety package.
The Volkswagen Atlas offers some pretty advanced safety features and will become more standard in 2022 as well.
Some of them are:
- Traffic Congestion Assistance
- Dynamic Road Sign Display
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane-Keep Help
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Frontal Collision Avoidance System
- Electronic Stability Control
- Rear Traffic Warning
2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
Review model 2022 VW Atlas launched the two-line Atlas Cross Sport in 2020 – two years after the standard three-line Atlas.
In 2022, the Atlas Cross Sport receives a few technology and security updates but remains largely unchanged. With this model still fresh, it is hoped that the Atlas Cross Sport 2022 can become the default model.
Visually, the current Atlas Cross Sport maintains most of the Vanilla Atlas design, including the upright face, smooth body lines, thin hood edges, and upright rear doors.
Cross Sport liven up the atmosphere with the rear body that leans forward. We hope that this design remains the same in the VW Atlas 2022.
Inside, the Atlas Cross Sport features the same Volkswagen cabin as the base Atlas. The room is clean, clutter-free, and secure with a long stretch of plastic without features and soft-touch materials.
VW adds a sporty feel with a flat-bottom steering wheel, but this only breaks the boredom for a moment.
The interior of the Cross Sport differs from the base Atlas by its two-row seating configuration – the base Atlas is a three-row crossover. We hope that this simple interior design remains in the Atlas Cross Sport 2022.
Atlas Sport offers a lot of standard equipment, including a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, upholstery, 17-inch wheels, and more.
Buyers can move up the trim level ladder and get more premium perks, such as an 8-inch touchscreen, three-zone climate control, 20-inch wheels, faux leather upholstery, 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, five USB ports, Fender audio.
The system, and others. We hope the standard features and options remain the same in the Atlas Cross Sport 2022.

The Atlas Cross Sport currently has two powertrain options. The basic setup is a 235 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, but buyers can opt for the 276 hp 3.6-liter V6.
This engine is paired with the same eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional with both engines.
We hope that this powertrain option remains the same in the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 2022.
The current VW Atlas Cross Sport hasn’t passed IIHS safety testing, but the 2020 model performed “Good” results in five of the six IIHS crash tests. It has not been tested for the strength of the roof.
It even received a “Good” rating for the available LED projector headlights. While this sets it for Top Safety Pick status,
IIHS has not yet assessed its standard automatic emergency braking, disqualifying it from TSP considerations.
We hope that all the features and safety ratings remain the same in the Atlas Cross Sport 2022.
Price and release date there are no official sales dates scheduled for the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 2022, and no projected fleet production dates. We can see it around November when the 2022 model arrives.
There are no official pricing details on the Atlas Cross Sport 2022 but without the upcoming changes,
We’re expecting only a small increase relative to the model’s current $ 32,050 to $ 51,220 MSRP range (including destination costs).

2022 VW Atlas Redesign
The Volkswagen Atlas 2022 has the boxy look, spacious interior, and spacious practicality that have characterized SUVs for decades.
It’s also one of the largest mid-sized crossovers, with a giant footprint that gives way to three broad rows of seating.
VW wanted the Atlas to look and feel like a hospital room, but it made up for that sterile aesthetic with many of the features it wanted.
A pair of steady, yet quiet engines motivate either a front-drive or all-wheel-drive SUV.
And 2022 offers a range of standard driver assistance and confident handling traits, but don’t expect the Atlas to be as attractive or sophisticated as the best in this segment.
The VW Atlas review three-line SUV enters the 2022 model year with a facelifted look that gives it a similar look to its smaller counterpart, the two-row Atlas Cross Sport.
It also offers additional powertrain configurations and several new technology features.
The new Atlas is almost three inches longer than the previous model, but the improvement is due to the shape of the front and rear bumpers and doesn’t change the interior space.
The chrome line spans the width of the car between the headlights which is more angular and aggressive than the previous model.
However, the new three-row Atlas front end isn’t quite the same as the Cross Sport, as the lower air intakes look a little different.
2022 Volkswagen Atlas Interior
The family-friendly interior space, direct control layout, and abundant cupholders make the Atlas a practical choice, even among other very practical rivals.
Plus, the third row of seats that can comfortably accommodate a full-size adult is a sure win.
The Volkswagen atlas interior design of the Atlas is uncomplicated and useful – perfect for families but not too much for a stylist.
The cabin should accommodate anything a suburban family can throw away, and there are plenty of carefully placed storage nooks for storing small items.
In our baggage testing, Atlas impressed us by fitting four carry-on cases behind the third row and 38 behind the first, just like the very large Honda Pilot.
No matter which trim you choose, the Atlas is well connected and ready to entertain. Intuitive touch screen interface and responsive like smartphones in general.

The Base S model features a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth telephone, and audio connectivity, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a USB port.
Upgrade to the SE or SEL model and the infotainment display increases to 8.0 inches, three additional USB ports appear from the center console, and the SiriusXM satellite radio and two more speakers combine.
Atlas 2022 Featured
Also new to Atlas is VW’s updated Car-Net app, which allows owners to lock and unlock doors, honk the horn,
See the location of their vehicle, and remotely start their vehicle via their phone.
The Atlas 2022 is also equipped with new optional driver assistance features including traffic jam assistance and a display of road signs.
There is also a new steering wheel with the new VW logo, which can also be seen on the Atlas exterior.
2022 Volkswagen Atlas Engine
The Atlas comes with one of two engines a 235-hp four-cylinder or a 276-hp V-6 both are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front or all-wheel drive.
The V-6 feels and sounds smooth, transmitting slight vibrations into the cab.
Although the four-cylinder model and the last V-6 we tested had moderate acceleration, on the road, they rarely felt underpowered.
While it’s not as fun to drive as the Mazda CX-9, the Atlas responds dutifully to steering input and never feels awkward. Composed on the highway and agile in the city. The ride was smooth, and all but the hardest holes were absorbed.
New all-wheel drive is available with a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and an optional 3.6-liter V-6 engine;
Previously only available on the V-6. Both engines are still paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2022 VW Atlas Off Road
After presenting the new 2022 Volkswagen Atlas facelift at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show earlier this year,
VW has unveiled a new range of accessories that give the popular midsize SUV a solid new look while enhancing its off-road capability.
Available individually or as a set in the Basecamp style package, VW’s new Basecamp accessory line includes special body cladding elements that create a more rugged ground look,
While unique road-inspired wheels and all-terrain tires enhance versatility.
If this upgrade looks familiar, it’s because VW’s new accessory line was inspired by the off-road-focused Volkswagen Atlas Basecamp concept that debuted at the 2019 New York Auto Show.
Produced by AirDesign, the Basecamp styling package includes two satin, silver and anthracite textured front bumper guards, textured anthracite fender flares with integrated splash guards, satin silver side door panels, and satin silver rear mosquito nets with hitch trailer access.
A unique Basecamp badge has also been added to the front quarter panel. However, VW does not recommend applying a styling package to Atlas models that are not equipped with a trailer hitch; it’s also not compatible with the R-Line trim.
To enhance the SUV’s off-road capability, the Basecamp accessory line also includes the unique 17-inch Traverse MX wheels manufactured by Fifteen52 first seen on the Atlas Basecamp concept.
The unique 17-inch wheels are made with frosted graphite and luminous silver and can be equipped with 245 / 70R17 thick all-terrain tires.
The new line of accessories for the Atlas comes as no surprise as a trademark filing uncovered earlier this year already suggests VW plans to build a production version of the Atlas Basecamp concept.
Pricing details are yet to be confirmed, but VW’s new Basecamp Gear line will be available this spring.
2022 Volkswagen Atlas V6 Sel R-Line
2022 Volkswagen Atlas V6 Sel Premium R-Line has now developed a model to revise its service every four years, this time deciding to do it earlier for the Atlas.
On the powertrain front, two identical engine options will be available, namely the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder and the 3.6L V6 NA, as announced, with hybrid support.
The New Atlas will be available in five variants with two powertrain options: a 3.6-liter V6 or a 2.0-liter I4. Dramatic changes in exterior dimensions and design can be expected from the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas.
In addition, tires will be offered in three different sizes, and the cabin can now accommodate more people than the previous offering which had a capacity of 7 people.
When you open the hood of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas V6 Sel R-Line Black, you will see the standard 2.0-liter Inline4 engine with 235 hp. and a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 engine with 276 hp.
This engine shows decent numbers on the charts, but in comparison, it has no competition to outrun its rivals in terms of power output.

- Engine 3.6L V6 Gas
- Transmission 8-Speed Automatic
- Drivetrain All-Wheel Drive
- Body Type SUV

2022 VW Atlas MPG
The Atlas fuel economy rating is not a breakthrough for this class of large box family carriers but its real-world performance is not far off from the fuel source of this segment.
Both the V-6 and the four-cylinder models outperformed their EPA ratings on our 200-mile real-world test route.
The Atlas V-6 delivers 24 mpg, and the four-cylinder model delivers 27 mpg.
